Motivational Speech : Be available , not at disposal

Published on 26 March 2024 at 17:30

The difference is fundamental and emphasizes the concept of voluntariness and conscious choice in our relationships and actions.

Being available implies a proactive and empathetic attitude toward others. It means offering one's time, energy and resources spontaneously and sincerely, without expecting anything in return. It is an act of generosity that comes from the heart and brings joy to both the giver and the receiver.

On the other hand, being “at disposal”  suggests a sense of passivity or obligation. It may imply feeling compelled or obligated to do something without necessarily really wanting to do it. It is an action that may result from duties or responsibilities imposed by others or society, rather than from personal choice.

So how can we fully embrace the concept of "being available, not disposable"? Here are some suggestions:

1. Cultivate empathy: Put yourself in others' shoes and try to understand their needs and feelings. Be there for them in an authentic and compassionate way.

2. Be proactive: Actively seek ways to help others and contribute to their well-being, without waiting for them to ask you for help. Offer your support spontaneously and sincerely.

3. Set healthy boundaries: It is important to recognize your limits and respect your time and energy. Don't feel guilty about saying no when necessary to protect your balance and mental health.

4. Make conscious choices: Choose to be available only when you do so sincerely and with an open heart. Avoid feeling forced or obligated to do something you don't really want to do.

In conclusion, being available, not at disposal, is an invitation to cultivate authentic and altruistic relationships based on willingness and kindness. When we embrace this principle, we create deeper and more meaningful connections with others.
