There is something strange about creative days.
You wake up in one place.
You go to sleep somewhere else.
And somewhere in between, it feels as if an entire week has happened.
Last weekend was one of those days.
A quick flight.
A suitcase packed almost in a hurry.
Sunshine.
Beautiful locations.
A team that somehow felt as if it had known each other for years.
And hour after hour, a collection of moments that seemed completely unrelated began to connect into something bigger.
A conversation on a beach.
Music playing from someone’s phone.
The sound of cameras.
A change of location.
Another outfit.
Another idea.
Another burst of laughter.
One minute you are discussing details.
The next, you are standing in front of the sea wondering how an entire day can disappear so quickly.
That is probably my favourite part of creative projects.
Not the photos.
Not even the final result.
The feeling that for a brief moment, people with different backgrounds, different experiences and different stories come together to create something that did not exist the day before.
Then, almost as quickly as it started, it is over.
The equipment is packed away.
Everyone heads home.
The airports become busy again.
The beaches become quiet again.
And all that remains are the memories, the friendships, the stories and a collection of images that will always remind you of where you were on that particular day.
Some projects are memorable because of the result.
Others are memorable because of the people.
This one was definitely the second.
And I have a feeling it won’t be the last.
