Fitness culture has developed a very dramatic form of accounting.
One workout: credit.
One dessert: debit.
One glass of wine: apparently the complete collapse of the financial system.
According to this logic, sixty minutes of training can be erased by something served in a beautiful glass.
Very powerful wine.
I know that wine contains calories.
This information has reached me.
I simply refuse to behave as though those calories arrive carrying tiny scissors and immediately begin cutting through every muscle I have trained.
I do not exercise to earn food.
And I certainly do not perform squats to obtain permission for a glass of wine.
I train because I like feeling strong.
I like what discipline does to my body, my concentration and my energy.
I drink wine because some dinners deserve it—and because water has never made a conversation noticeably more interesting.
Balance is not pretending calories do not exist.
It is understanding that one choice does not cancel an entire structure.
One glass does not destroy consistency.
Just as one workout does not create it.
Our bodies are built by what we do repeatedly, not by one isolated evening that the fitness police would like to investigate.
So yes, the workout happened.
The wine happened too.
Both are perfectly capable of surviving in the same life.
And, occasionally, at the same dinner.😂
