I Refuse to Be Easy to Explain

People feel comfortable when they can put you in a category.

Athlete.
Coach.
Model.
Businesswoman.

Pick one, please. It makes the filing system easier.

I have never been particularly interested in making myself easier to file.

One day I am in a competition arena. Another day, behind a microphone. Somewhere else, in front of a camera or inside a conversation that changes the way someone sees a problem.

These are not different versions of me.

They are the same person refusing to live in only one dimension.

The world often asks for consistency when what it really wants is repetition: the same role, the same image, the same predictable answer.

But consistency is not doing one thing forever.

It is bringing the same standard to everything you do.

My world may change. My clothes certainly will. 😂
But the discipline, curiosity, intensity and absolute commitment come with me.

Everywhere.

Being difficult to summarize is not confusion.

Sometimes, it is evidence that a person has continued to grow beyond the first definition they were given.

So do not ask me which version is the real one.

The athlete is real.
The woman is real.
The elegance is real.
The strength is real.
The seriousness is real.
And so is the part of me that finds the whole thing extremely funny.

I do not need every side of me to match.

I need every side of me to be mine.

And I do not need to fit perfectly into a category.

I like every category I enter to remember that I was there.
