There is something life never tells you.
One day…you will do something for the very last time.
And you won’t know it.
The last ride with someone who made you smile.
The last phone call from someone who always checked how you were doing.
The last family dinner where everyone was still there.
The last ordinary Sunday.
The last conversation that ended with : “See you soon.”
Because life never announces its endings.
There is no warning.
No countdown.
No message saying: “Pay attention. This moment will matter more than you think.”
Life simply keeps moving.
And so do we.
We always believe there will be another opportunity.
Another summer.
Another coffee.
Another visit.
Another photograph.
Another laugh.
Another ordinary moment we assumed would always be there.
We live as though time were making promises.
But time has never promised us anything.
It moves quietly.
It doesn’t knock before it leaves.
And often, we only recognize the value of a moment after it has already become a memory.
The strange part is that we rarely lose the important things all at once.
We lose them gradually.
One routine disappears.
One phone call becomes less frequent.
One familiar place closes its doors.
One person slowly becomes part of our past.
One memory at a time.
That is how life changes.
Not with explosions.... With silence.
I think many people spend years chasing extraordinary moments.
The big achievement.
The perfect trip.
The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
And those moments are beautiful.
But if experience has taught me anything, it is this:
our lives are built far more by ordinary moments than extraordinary ones.
The conversations we almost skipped.
The people we almost didn’t call.
The hugs that lasted five seconds longer.
The ride we almost postponed.
The evening we almost cancelled because we were tired.
Those are often the moments that become priceless later.
Not because they were extraordinary.
But because they were the last.
Without anyone realizing it.
Perhaps this is why I try to be present more often than I used to.
Not perfectly..... No one can.
But consciously.
Because one day today’s ordinary life will become something I would give anything to experience just once more.
And maybe that is the perspective we all need from time to time.
The next time you laugh…stay there a little longer.
The next time you hug someone…don’t be in such a hurry to let go.
The next time your phone rings with the name of someone you love…answer.
The next walk.
The next dinner.
The next conversation.
The next ride.
Treat them gently.
Not because something bad is about to happen.
But because one day…without knowing it…one of them will quietly become the last.
