I believe we can learn from everyone.
From the people who support us.
From those who challenge us.
From the ones who stay—and occasionally, even more from the ones who leave.
We learn from success, because it shows us what worked.
We learn from failure, because it gives us information we did not have before.
We learn from beautiful experiences.
And we learn from the terrible ones too, although they are rarely considerate enough to explain the lesson while they are happening.
Every experience offers something.
But this does not mean that everything deserves to remain with us forever.
That distinction matters.
Learning from an experience is not the same as continuing to carry it.
You can understand why something happened without allowing it to occupy every future decision.
You can recognise what a person taught you without giving them a permanent role in your life.
You can accept responsibility for your part, change what needs to be changed and still decide that the story ends there.
The lesson can stay.
The weight does not have to.
Sometimes the value of an experience is obvious.
It gives you confidence, knowledge, joy or a possibility you had never considered.
Other times, its value is hidden inside something you would never have chosen.
A disappointment may teach you to notice what enthusiasm made you overlook.
A mistake may reveal exactly where your preparation was insufficient.
A difficult person may clarify the standards you will never negotiate again.
A closed door may force you to build an entrance that belongs entirely to you.
None of this makes the experience pleasant.
But it can make it useful.
And that is where our power begins.
We cannot always choose what happens.
We can choose whether it becomes only damage—or also information.
This does not require pretending that every painful moment was secretly wonderful.
Some things were unfair.
Some decisions were wrong.
Some choices were made knowingly.
Calling an experience an opportunity does not mean excusing it.
It means refusing to leave it empty-handed.
Take the information.
Take the greater awareness.
Take the clearer standards.
Take the strength you discovered only because something demanded it from you.
Then continue.
You do not honour a lesson by remaining trapped inside the experience that taught it.
You honour it by using what you learned to choose better, act faster and recognise more clearly the next time.
Everything can teach us something.
But once the lesson has become part of us, we are allowed to put down the rest.
Take the lesson.
Leave the weight.
And move forward carrying more knowledge—not more chains.
