When There Is Nowhere Left to Hide

Some conversations explain leadership. Others expose it.

I recently joined Otiri Enathy on The Becoming Podcast for a conversation about what happens when certainty disappears, a mistake becomes visible, and a decision still has to be made.

Because pressure doesn’t magically create character, courage or leadership.

It reveals what was already there.

We talked about why admitting a mistake can strengthen credibility rather than destroy it, why mistakes should become information instead of threats to our identity, and why waiting for perfect information can sometimes be more dangerous than acting without it.

One point matters particularly to me: you cannot control circumstances. You can only control yourself, your actions and the way you respond to them.

That is where adaptability becomes essential. Not as improvisation, but as the ability to remain grounded in your values while changing your response when reality changes.

And perhaps that is what leadership looks like when there is nowhere left to hide.
