You finish training.
You are sweating. Your legs have opinions. Getting down the stairs requires a brief diplomatic agreement.
Then you look at your watch.
You forgot to press start.
According to the device, nothing happened.
Your body has submitted extensive evidence. Technology has rejected the application.
This is one of the stranger developments in sport: we can complete an entire session and feel slightly robbed because there is no graph to prove it.
No little celebration. No impressive number. No digital witness.
Just the actual work.
I like information. Numbers can help us understand what we are doing and how it changes over time.
But there is something wonderfully absurd about needing an electronic bracelet to confirm that the effort we just experienced was real.
A recorded session can still be careless. An unrecorded session can still be excellent.
The useful question remains: what did you actually do, and how well did you do it?
Look at the data. Learn from it. Then remember who performed the session.
The watch was there as a guest.
And if you forgot to press start, please resist the temptation to do the entire workout again.
Your legs already have the receipt.
