South of France. The Weather Had Other Plans.

Published on 10 October 2026 at 21:40

I packed for a shooting in the south of France.

The rain, apparently, had booked the same dates.

You may remember that the first stop was supposed to bring sunshine and warmer temperatures. I had even complained about leaving behind perfect motorcycle weather.

I would now like to formally withdraw the sunshine statement.

The destination, however, can finally be revealed.

South of France. First stop. First shooting.

And the first opportunity to discover which parts of the plan would survive contact with the actual day.

The weather was not on our side. But fortunately, the people were.

We adapted, worked with what we had and managed to create something I am genuinely happy to share. It was a beautiful experience—even if the sky had a rather different interpretation of the brief.

There is something slightly ridiculous about dressing for a photograph while the weather makes absolutely no effort to dress for the occasion.

You have thought about the clothes. The details. The entire look.

The sky has brought grey.

Very committed to its own aesthetic, apparently.

But looking through these images now, I would hate to reduce the whole trip to a weather report.

Because there was much more happening than rain.

What I love about this selection is how many different moods fit inside it.
A white shirt and tailored shorts. A sharper silhouette in black. The softness of knitwear. A trench coat. Then something altogether less interested in being practical.

Same woman. Very different energy.

That is one of the pleasures of this work for me: discovering how a change of clothes, posture or setting can bring a different part of my personality into the photograph.

I like the composed images. The direct looks. The ones where every detail seems to know exactly what it is doing.

But I also like the smile that interrupts all that seriousness.

Especially that one.

I have no intention of looking beautifully unapproachable in every photograph. It would be exhausting.

And anyone who knows me would question how long I had managed to remain quiet.

A selection of finished images makes a shooting look wonderfully effortless. You move from one look to the next with a swipe. Everything is already in place.

Living it is a little less seamless.

There is travelling to fit in. Work to do. A team bringing its own ideas and attention to the project. And, on this occasion, weather requiring us to reconsider how we would get there.

That part matters to me too.

I came home with photographs, yes. But also with the satisfaction of having worked well together when the conditions were not what we had hoped for.

A real thank you to the team who made that possible. For the work, the flexibility and the atmosphere we created together.

The images are a small part I can show you.

The pleasure of making them is the part I hope comes through.

So here it is: the first reveal from those three destinations I left unnamed while closing my suitcase.

A little elegance. A few changes of mood. An umbrella making an entirely justified appearance.

And me, enjoying a project that refused to look exactly like the forecast I had imagined.

One destination revealed.

Two more stories to tell.

The suitcase, meanwhile, should not get comfortable.

It still has work to do. ✌️😂
