If I think you look fantastic, you will probably know about it.
Because I will tell you.
A beautiful dress. A wonderful face. Someone with an incredible presence. I notice, I appreciate it, I say it.
Sometimes to a complete stranger.
And I love that second of surprise before the smile arrives.
“Yes, you. That looks amazing.”
Why sit there admiring someone’s shoes in silence when we could be having a very enthusiastic conversation about them?
Possibly involving where she bought them.
I can appreciate another woman’s beauty while being perfectly happy standing beside her.
I can admire her style without wanting to dress like her. Sometimes she has chosen something I would never have considered—and looks spectacular.
Even better. Show me something I would never have thought of.
However, I should mention that my enthusiasm for expressing opinions works in both directions.
Occasionally, I see something horrendous.
Occasionally, I say so.
And when I manage to keep quiet, my face provides subtitles.
Detailed ones.
I would love to claim that I move through the world with an elegant, unreadable expression.
Unfortunately, my eyebrows have never agreed to those terms.
But when I tell you something is beautiful, you can be certain I mean it.
So if you catch me looking, give me a second.
